Oyster Stew

Ingredients
1 quart Milk
1 dozen Oysters with their liquor
Salt
Sweet Butter
2 teaspoons Paprika

Method
Rinse a stewpan and put it on the fire without drying so the milk won't stick. Dump in one quart of milk and 1 dozen oysters with their liquor and salt. Cook very slowly, without boiling and give an occasional light stir. Just before their edges begin to curl, dump in 1/8 pound of sweet butter and 2 teaspoons paprika. Swirl the paprika and butter around and dish it out the second the edges begin to curl.
