The retro fashion must be nearing an end, how much more old kitchen furniture is there to use? However, the cafe Retro remains a real favourite for all sorts of reasons, least of all being the food which does get criticisms. But for R.G. "it's a place to meet a wonderfully exciting, attractive stranger. And for intensity, reading the stars, knees nearly touching at the cozy fireside tables in winter. Drinking red wine from large tumblers at the lamine tables with the teatowel/napkins tucked under your chin. Discreet and friendly service - a recognition for the frequent inmates that extends to everybody. Upstairs, a great room which can seat 80 at a celebratory dinner. Warm in winter, cool in summer." Breakfasts are frequently recommended here, "it's a lovely space early in the morning and the fruit salad is great. Children are made welcome with a special kiddies dish on the menu, in summer the tables outside in the side street offer heaps of space for prams.
