Mietta's Review
Big, bare, cafeteria like room on two levels that's very open to the street serving better than average Italian food at very reasonable prices. The space used to be the foyer to West's Cinema, the cinemas itself is now home to the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra. The musicians, orchestra staff and Hindley St regulars are delighted with the quality of their new 'caf'. Behind the operation are George and Renato who parents started the Amalfi in Frome St, many years ago.

Other published opinions

Gourmet Traveller 2006 Australian Restaurant Guide "Tempo beats to the rhythm of Hindley Street, as the neighbourhood continues to be gentrified by a growing arts and business community. Housed in the Art Deco foyer of a former cinema (now a rehearsal space for the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra), it's popular as an informal meeting place"

Gourmet Traveller 2005 Australian Restaurant Guide "Tempo has maintained its cafe style while doubling as a flexible trattoria offering very good cooking and a modestly good wine list. Housed in the splendid Art Deco foyer of a former cinema - now a rehearsal space for the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra"

The Adelaide Advertiser 14/4/04, "Tempo offer Italian eating of consistent quality and admirable versatility. Enjoy one of Adelaide's finest toasted sandwiches on the street; dine casually on the lower level just inside the doors, or settle in at the restaurant tables upstairs."

Gourmet Traveller Restaurant Guide Australia 2004,'Tempo has developed from a casual cafe into a flexible trattoria offering very good food and a modest pleasing wine list. It's a sturdily Italian place...The regular menu tends to be fairly conservative so look to the specials board...easygoing breakfast and lunch menus sweeten the deal.'
